This is the summer surfing beach for the 25,000,000 folk that don't have a town beach to surf at. Crowded Lineups.
Shortboarders tend to congregate in front of the last boardwalk ramp. Longboarders often by "The Sign".

Sideshore currents can be very strong, and shore dumps large at High Tide. Level: Expert.

No known impediments to windsurfing - but any attempting need to exercise, respect lifeguards, avoid crowds, stay far away from swimmers, swimming areas, and surfers, & exeercise extreme common sense, or this potentially radical launch could easily be lost.

The Catch-all south shore beach for Huntington and mid-island eastwards to Ronkonkoma, Robert Moses can get ultra crowded in summer months once the water has warmed up. Sometimes all the lots can be closed by 1:30 PM.  If you need to surf in summer - Get there early.

Directions: 48 miles from Manhattan, via Southern State Parkway to Robert Moses Causeway (exit 40), south to Park at western end of Fire Island. Seasons/Hours: Open Year-Round, Sunrise to Sunset.
